Determine static/dynamic temperature of drilling fluids using aging cells
The M1742 Corrosion Test Cell is an aging cell that holds a corrosion coupon suspended in testing fluid. We also offer standard aging cells (M1741).
The Grace Instrument M1742 High-Temperature Corrosion Cell accurately determines the corrosion rate of oil and gas equipment after prolonged exposure to drilling fluids or muds. A coupon holder, integrated into the inner cap, securely keeps the coupon, or material sample to be tested, in place during testing. The M1742 is designed to allow drilling fluid or muds to remain liquid even in high-temperature, high-pressure conditions. This device has several applications, including analysis of material corrosion rate and corrosion-inhibiting additives.
Grace Instrument aging cells were designed to be used with the Grace Instrument M1750 Roller Oven to age and test drilling fluids or muds. It allows samples to be maintained in a liquid state while subjected to a temperature higher than the boiling point of water due to pressure.
Most drilling fluid properties are formulated through a base liquid and additives that must be dissolved or mechanically distributed within the base liquid to form a uniform, homogeneous fluid.
As a result, properties of the drilling fluid
may contain one or more of the following:
- Water-soluble (dispersible) polymers or resins
- Clays or other insoluble but dispersible fine solids
- Soluble Salts
