Automatic Fluid Loss Apparatus
M4085 Automatic Fluid Loss Apparatus
The Grace Instrument M4085 Automatic Fluid Loss Apparatus evaluates the fluid loss characteristics of fracturing fluid at high temperatures and pressure, tolerating up to 2,500 psi and 350°F. This instrument features unique automatic fluid collection and filtration and digital measurement capabilities not present in other fluid loss instruments.
The M4085 includes a heating jacket, electronic precision balance scale, and measuring beaker. Fracturing fluid is poured into a cell and loaded into the unit’s heating jacket. The thermocouple and pressure lines are connected, and a small beaker is placed on the scale to collect filtrate.
FREE, complementary Grace Instrument M4085 Software is included with each unit. (For custom software, additional charges may apply.) This advanced software enables users to operate and configure test sequences to control pressure, temperature, and other variables while running tests. The resulting collected data can be plotted and displayed on a graph and exported into a .csv file for future use. The software can also be used to open the filtrate valve automatically (also opens manually without software).

- Automatic Fluid Collection and Filtration
- Digital measurement—digital screen displays cell temperature for easy reference.
- Cell, back pressure regulator, and air actuated valve are made of high-quality Hastelloy wetted parts.
- Nitrogen Pressurization Method / Source
- Filter media is 1” in diameter with a core 1” in length.
- Safe operation—a second thermocouple controls the heating jacket temperature and acts as a safety feature. It shuts off the unit at temperatures above 350°F.
- Pressure regulator and gauge are conveniently located on panel for easy operation.
- Pressure regulator, gauge, and filter are easy to access and replace.
- Cell is easy to load into the unit.
- Transparent glass door allows for a quick and clear view of testing and doubles as safety feature by acting as a splash guard.
- FREE, advanced Grace Instrument M4085 Software can perform automatic data recording, configure test sequences to control variables, graph and export results, and automatically open the filtrate valve (also opens manually without software).
